Praise and worship songs are tools to help you in your worship to God. They are not what leads you into God’s presence, they are not what shapes your heart but they are but aids in accomplishing those things. Praise and worship songs help put words into what you are feeling in your heart at that moment. As you sing them, they are not merely your mouth and tongue working in unison with your voice box to utter those lyrics, but they are your heart and soul responding to what God is impressing upon you. As conviction sets in and you draw near to God you often find yourself being moved and as you sing certain songs, you can’t help but raise your arms and just dwell in God’s love. That is how you can listen to one praise and worship song one day and be completely moved and in tune with God but the next day, you could listen to the same song and not feeling anything. That is why they are worship songs, not worship itself.
So in other words, here’s a piece of what’s in my heart at the moment.
So what can I say
What can I do
But offer this heart O God
Completely to You
And I’ll stand
With arms high and heart abandoned
In awe of the One who gave it all
I’ll stand
My soul LORD to You surrenders
All I am is yours
good listening to it. thanks for sharing your thoughts.
