Today was a pretty long day for me, largely in part because I slept later than usual last night. I stayed up past 2 AM and I had to be at work at 8:30 in the morning. So when I got home from work, I was pretty much exhausted and I just sat around watching TV after dinner. When I finally made my way up to my room, I thought about skipping my quiet times for the day. I wanted to just continue sitting around and maybe call it an early night, but I just didn’t feel right doing so. So as I went through the passages from my Bible reading plan, and I able find simple reminders of what God has been impressing upon my heart.
Psalm 27: 7-9
7Hear, O LORD, when I cry aloud; be gracious to me and answer me! 8You have said, ”Seek my face.”My heart says to you, ”Your face, LORD, do I seek.”9 Hide not your face from me. Turn not your servant away in anger, O you who have been my help. Cast me not off; forsake me not, O God of my salvation!
Luke 19: 2-5
2A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. 3He wanted to see who Jesus was, but being a short man he could not, because of the crowd. 4So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way. 5When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.”
So in short, God calls us to seek Him and so we must take every opportunity to draw near to Him. However, it is through God revealing Himself and because of His initiative that we are able to have a relationship with Him.
